Our family life was, like many others, punctuated by daily responsibilities: work, school, outings and leisure. However, everything changed when we received the brutal diagnosis: our child has type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease.
This invisible disease cannot be managed simply by paying attention to diet. Instead, it requires frequent injections, taking into account physical activity, emotions, carbohydrate counting and many other factors. Our daily life has turned into a roller coaster of emotions and blood sugar fluctuations. We have had to understand, assimilate and reorganize our lives, because before being affected by this disease, we knew nothing about diabetes.
- The context
Our child was only 6 years old at the time, and he has adapted to his new reality. What used to be a simple school outing, a visit to the park or an evening at a friend's house has become a significant mental burden and requires prior organization.
This is how the idea of Glucibox was born. As a mother, I was constantly looking for a small, practical bag to take everywhere, which could contain all the necessary equipment and be easily accessible in all circumstances.
After three years of living with this invisible illness, I have been able to identify the needs of my son, who remains my main source of inspiration. I am extremely proud of the path our family has taken, but even more proud of my son, who amazes me every day with his strength and courage.
